World Kidney Day was celebrated on 12th of March in ILBS as a part of global campaign to generate and spread awareness of importance of kidney in human body and to prevent kidney disease among public, care givers, policy makers and the government.
This was the 20th anniversary of World Kidney Day and the theme was “Caring for People, Protecting the Planet” The inaugural function was attended by public, hospital staff, patients and their care givers, media and the guests. Professor SK Sarin, Chancellor & Director ILBS welcomed the audience and informed about the comprehensive care available for diagnosis and treatment of all kidney diseases at ILBS including state of the art dialysis Unit, CRRT, Peritoneal dialysis and kidney transplant.
Dr. RP Mathur, Sr. consultant and Head, Department of Nephrology & Kidney Transplant deliberated about the WKD and importance of prevention of kidney diseases. Dr. Abhiyutthan Jadon, Astt. Prof. Urology & Kidney Transplant presented the excellent Kidney Transplant facility available at ILBS including live donor and deceased donor transplants.
Shri Vikas Swarup Former Diplomat of the Indian Foreign Service and celebrated author as Chief Guest appreciated the high quality of patient care at ILBS with dedication, compassion and excellent service with a smile. He emphasized the need for regular health checkup for early detection of kidney disease. He felicitated and distributed Certificates to nurses and Technicians for their excellence in Kidney care at ILBS. Mr Gaurav explained his life changing experience on receiving kidney from his father 8 months back after remaining on dialysis for 6 months. After transplant he was able to perform his passion as an artist and You Tuber. He also gave a mesmerizing dance performance at the end of the program.
Mr. Gangmei narrated his joy and experience after donating kidney to his sister two months back. Both the donor and the recipients were felicitated by the Chief Guest. Renowned Hasyakavi Shri Ashok Chkradhar kept the audience amused by his hilarious poems and proved that laughter is the best medicine! Professor MK Daga, Vice Chancellor ILBS conveyed the vote of thanks. A free health checkup camp was organized for the public, around 100 persons availed this opportunity.
