New Delhi: The Indian Medical Association is deeply distressed on the decision of the administration of AIIMS, New Delhi to suspend 5 resident doctors on alleged charges of medical negligence without the report of the enquiry committee setup by the AIIMS administration afterunfortunate demise of a staff nursein her a complicated case of delivery.
Speaking on the occasion, National President, IMA, Dr K K Aggarwal said this decision should be rolled back with immediate effect as it has been hastily taken in the absence of the report of the enquiry committee setup for this purpose, apparently under pressure from the Nursing Association.
Addressing the Media on this occasion, Honorary Secretary General, IMA, Dr R N Tandon, said that we have our deepest sympathy towards the family and colleagues of the deceased nurse.
He further added that both the doctors and the nurses are the pillars of healthcare delivery system of any society and need to work in strong cohesion with due respect for each other. They should identify the divisive factors amongst them and thwart all attempts to dent the strong cohesion between the doctors and the nurses.
IMA has written a letter to the AIIMS Director in this regard and have voiced its solidarity with the Resident Doctors of AIIMS while expressing its sympathy to the bereaved family and colleagues of the deceased nurse and have demanded necessary action after proper enquiry.
We again demand immediate rollback of the suspension order pending the final report of the enquiry Committee constituted by you to look into the whole matter.
