CanKids…Kidscan one of the largest cancer support organisation for kids with cancer aged 0-21 in India is coming up with a unique and much needed program for advocating cancer awareness and involvement in India. Starting from the largest state of U.P where cancer among kids is very common and awareness is very low, CanKids is planning a 5 day “Car Rally” with a special focus on adopting the ‘Gold Ribbon’ under the program ‘Go Gold India’ as the Universal symbol of hope, health, awareness and solidarity with kids with Cancer. CanKids will kick off the program 1 Sep from New Delhi, Noida, to Lucknow , Allahabad, Kanpur to Agra and back to Delhi under the able leadership of Ms Poonam Bagai a cancer survivor, who is the Chairman of CanKids.
September is the childhood cancer awareness month and Gold ribbon and Gold light are symbols that honor the courage and struggle of childhood cancer patients and their families.
Go Gold India is a Childhood Cancer Survivor led Advocacy and Awareness Campaign to ensure that Childhood cancer becomes a child health priority in India which will engage all stakeholders including hospitals, nurses, parents, schools, colleges and govt. etc. The programs will include, survivor interactions, marathons, rallies, photography opportunities among others. The aim is to create large scale awareness, raise funds for cancer cure and engage stakeholders to formulate friendlier policies on Cancer Support for all kids. It may be noted that only 40% kids with cancer in India survive against the global average of 95%. CanKids vision is to raise survival rates in India to global rates.
