AIIA Leads Grand Celebrations for the 11th International Day of Yoga under Ministry of Ayush’s 10 Signature Events Initiative

New Delhi, 20 June 2025:

In a spirited prelude to the 11th International Day of Yoga (IDY) 2025, the All-India Institute of Ayurveda (AIIA) has taken centre stage in celebrating yoga’s global message of harmony and holistic well-being. As part of the Ministry of Ayush’s 10 Signature Events initiative, AIIA has organized a vibrant series of yoga-focused programmes across its Delhi and Goa campuses, culminating in a grand observance of “Yoga Sangam” on 21st June 2025.

The flagship event Yoga Sangam will witness a Mass Yoga Demonstration based on the Common Yoga Protocol (CYP) on June 21st at two major venues: one at Supreme Court of India and Kendriya Vidyalaya NTPC Ground, Badarpur (New Delhi) led by AIIA, New Delhi. The event will be graced by the presence of Dr. A. Raghu. DDG(AYUSH) who will be the Chief Guest for the event, along with Prof. (Dr.) Manjusha Rajagopala, Director I/C, AIIA, Prof. Dr. Mahesh Vyas Dean Ph.D; Prof.(Dr.) Yogesh Badwe, Dean PG; Prof.(Dr.) Shiv Harti, Additional Professor Swasthavritta & Yoga Department, also present will be other senior faculty members of AIIA New Delhi.

Over 2,000 participants including students, doctors, lawyers, yoga enthusiasts, and local community members are expected to join the celebrations in AIIA New Delhi campus.

Under the leadership of Prof. (Dr.) Manjusha Rajagopala, Director, AIIA, a series of impactful activities were held including:

Yoga Samavesh: A 3-day Iyengar Yoga Workshop (June 9–11) and Satkarma (cleansing techniques) sessions (June 17–18) promoting therapeutic yoga and internal purification.

Yoga Unplugged: Youth-centric Yogasana and quiz competitions, along with a special session on “Yoga at Old Age” emphasizing intergenerational wellness.

Harit Yoga: A plantation drive on June 16 with over 100 medicinal plants planted on campus, reinforcing the yoga-nature connection.

Samyoga: Launch of a Bhagavad Gita Lecture Series exploring timeless yogic teachings.

Yoga Prabhava: Guest lectures including sessions by AIIMS faculty on genetics and Sahaj Yoga practices to enhance emotional well-being.

Speaking on the initiative, Prof. (Dr.) Manjusha Rajagopala stated,“Yoga is not just a practice but a philosophy of balanced living. Through these Signature Events, we aim to integrate Ayurveda, classical wisdom, and modern science to advance public health and inner resilience.”

AIIA Goa is actively contributing to the 10 Signature Events initiative through:

Harit Yoga activities at heritage locations across Goa

Series of mass yoga demonstrations, yoga-based awareness drives, medical camps, school programmes, and competitions.

The main IDY event in Goa will be hosted at Peddem Sports Complex, Mapusa, and will include a two-hour awareness and Common Yoga Protocol session. The event will be graced by Mrs. Geeta Nagvenkar, Executive Director, Sports Authority of Goa, and Mr. Manoj Patil, Goa Badminton Association.

These activities are being organized under the guidance of Prof. Dr. Sujata Kadam, Dean, and Prof. Dr. Mohan Joshi, Associate Dean, AIIA Goa.  “Through this celebration, AIIA Goa reaffirms its commitment to promoting the timeless science of Yoga for global health, harmony, and well-being,” said Prof. Dr. Sujata Kadam, Dean Goa.

“Yoga Sangam” is the hallmark event of IDY 2025, featuring a Mass Yoga Demonstration based on the Common Yoga Protocol (CYP). The event is scheduled for 21st June 2025, and will take place simultaneously at over 2,00,000 locations across India. The national-level observance will be led by the Hon’ble Prime Minister of India from Visakhapatnam, Andhra Pradesh.
