Atal Bihari Vajpayee Institute of Medical Sciences (ABVIMS) and Dr Ram Manohar Lohia (RML) Hospital celebrated a landmark moment with their 11th Convocation Ceremony, held at bharatmandapam on 20 September .
The event was graced by Dr Abhijat Sheth, Chairperson of the National Medical Commission, as Chief Guest , Dr Vinod Kotwal, Additional Secretary, Ministry of Health & Family Welfare and Dr Sunita Sharma DGHS who joined as Guests of Honour along with Dr prof ashok kumar ( Director) Dr prof vivek Diwan ( Medical superintendent) and Dr prof arti maria ( dean).
In an inspiring address, the dignitaries congratulated the graduates and highlighted the crucial role of young doctors in shaping India’s healthcare future. Dr prof Ashok Kumar, Director ABVIMS and Dr RML hospital, stressed that cutting-edge skills and technology means little without compassion, empathy, and respect for every patient’s dignity.
Dr Sunita Sharma guided all with 5 C’s which should be integrated in all medical professionals i.e. character, conviction, commitment, courage and courtesy.
Dr. Vinod Kotwal encouraged the students to combine scientific rigor with empathy and compassion in order to heal lives.
Dr Abhijat sheth ( chief guest)reiterated the importance of more number of doctors and post graduates for sustainability of health care and development of nation in long term. He emphasized about the need for quality of medical education and patient-centred care.
Degrees were conferred upon superspecialist and postgraduate students, as well as the institute’s very first batch of undergraduate medical graduates, marking a proud milestone in ABVIMS history.
The ceremony also featured the formal release of Samhita, the hospital’s annual magazine, which captures the year’s academic achievements, innovative research, and creative contributions from students and faculty.
Speaking on the occasion, institute leaders reaffirmed their commitment to excellence in medical education, clinical services, and community health, inspiring graduates to uphold the highest standards of professionalism and compassion.
